Hi,
I hope someone can help me, please ??
I'm new to the world of Simulators.
How I came to be here, was from trawling the web trying to find some help with Helicopter Simulators.
My ambition is to gain my Chopper Pilots licence.
Before i attempt this, I was thinking it would be a great idea, financially and time wise, to seek out some kind of Simulator device to give me the feel of what i will try to attempt one day.
So my questions are,
*What program/s is available out there that can help me ??
*A program that has the training Choppers on it, eg Robinson/Sikorsky etc
*What do i need to purchase eg Joystik/Foot controls etc
But most importantly looking for anyones help and advice on this subject.
I'm looking forward to hearing from someone,
thanks,
Geoffman
i use a x52 joystick but theyre are a bit pricey at around $200 but i love it as it has both stick and throttle joysticks
i also u saitek peddals which i bought from the flightsim shop here
but any joystick with a twist stick and throttle will do the job
as for a helo to fly, try owen hewitts bell 206III, its one of the most stable helos to fly and its very simple to geta grasp then you can move onto the bell412 with is a little more advanced
for total realism you can try the dodosim b206 (payware) which as everything
all these are at hovercontrol and provide links to dodosim, plus many reviews and tips with joysticks and flying

G'day Geoffman
Like a lot of us here in this forum i have killed a lot of virtual passengers in name of learning to fly heli's. So with that in mind find your self a large open area inside the flight sim. Turn off crash detection and work on making the smallest of movements. In the end it doesn’t matter if your turn to final is more like a 747. What matters is that you have control at all times. Half the effort of maintaining control is not allowing you’re self to get too far outside your personal envelope of comfortable control over the aircraft. If your movements are small then so are your mistakes. Lower the sensitivity of your flight stick. Everything happens a little slower in a Heli so sometimes you also have to give your command input time to take effect. Every control input you make weather in Pitch, Roll or Yaw directly and indirectly affects all the others. You will find that an increase in collective (Throttle/RPM/Lift) will require increased pressure on one of the anti toque peddles (Yaw/RPM) which will follow through and you will need to effect the cyclic (Pitch+Roll (Joystick) this is the never ending cycle of correction every Heli pilot learns to juggle. Until for others looking in, you appear to be flying strait and level.
If you like send me an email and I can answer any of your questions _________________ AirBornComputers.com
