I'm having problems getting the tower (or any one for that matter) to hear me. I can hear them OK. I have tested the headset using the Sounds and Audio Devices in MS control Panel, which works OK. Is there some where in FSX that I need to look at?

there are a number of things it could be , most likely you need to check in the FSFDT control panel (it has the 6 little light in the Windows task bar), check that your USB Direct SOUND is selected and that you have a key or joystick button assigned to "push to talk".

Other than that , might want to uninstall FSINN , reinstall it and just double check the Setup tutorial that youve not missed a step or something.

Trying to help a guy online with it last night and really , its hard to say what may be the problem without me looking at your system.

Let me know how you go. You may need to drop a question at the website of the maker , but first just check the setp guide.

cheers,
Paulie

Paul this assumes he's using FSInn, which you should be Hock. Default MP functionality in FSX has a little to be desired if you ask me.

Is FSInn what you're using Hock?

Thanks for your response.
I'm am relatively new to the world of internet FS. I have the standard off the shelf FSX so I don't know what the FSInn is. I take it that it is an enhancement to FSX. Do I need it to get access to comms via a headset?

where abouts are you flying online ? If its the inbuilt 'gamespy' thingo then I had the same problem of no sound.

Have a look at flying online with VATSIM http://www.vatsim.net/

note the sections to the left for new starters and the 'pilot rescource centre' , there is a lot of reading to do at first, but it all gels together nicely and the add-on software they use to enable voice communications is very good.

I have to thank Adrian for pointing me in that direction back in March. I logged over 100 hours online in August (holidays Very Happy ) and have found that flying online there has tought me more than I could have imagined about real world flying. If your a real pilot then you'll love it.

Let us know how you go and join us one day for a flight !

And dont be put off by all the reading you will have to get through at first, indeed , this is just like real life flying true ?

I cannot reccomend highly enough this VATSIM and the Australian division, VATPAC , if realistic online flying is what you desire. Of course there might be other places one can fly online, but hey ! I for one never looked back. Thanks again to Adrian. It's all your fault dude ! Laughing

oh, one last note: my Video card has new updated drivers available at the manufacturers website every month , and I cannot begin to tell you how amazed I am that so simple a tweek can produce very noticeable improvements. If your getting into 3D gamming , make it a monthly visit to the website of your card manufacturer to check for updates.

Of course there are a bunch of drivers that need updating, like sound is a big one too.

Have fun and ask away , the fellas might take some time to get back to you sometimes, but there are always helpful folks dropping in who will give ya a hand.

Thanks Paul,
Yes it is the inbuilt 'gamespy' thingo. As I am new to internet flying, I didn't know that I could log on any other way.

I'll let you know how I go.

Bill.

Paul,

I have registered with VATSIM and have read most of the pilot training material. The problem I now have is that I can't download the pilot software. When I click on FSCopilot 1.6, a new window opens and I get an Internet EXployer cannot display the webpage message. I have tried going direct to mcdu.com with the same result.

Is there another way of downloading the software?

Thanks Bill.

Hmm strange that you'd be getting an error on their site. I am able to download fine. Here are the direct download links from the website.

FSCopilot 1.6 - http://www.mcdu.com/redirect.php?id=58
FSInn 1.2 - http://www.mcdu.com/redirect.php?id=57

See how you go with these.

Thanks Paul and Adrian,

I have finally managed to down load the programs and have attempted my first flight. Wasn't pretty, but full marks to the ATC for helping me though it. Hopefully I'll get better as time goes on.

Once again, many thanks for all your help

Bill.
