You have to ask yourself, is it worth upgrading. Well based on the results I am seeing via my new PC I can whole heartedly say YES. running FSX on my new E6850 duo core with an 8800 gts card is terrific. Believe me I shopped around. procrastinated and evaluated, I am the kind of shopper who drives sales men nuts. I finally settled on an Ebay seller whom I had been watching for some time. Believe me or not the the seller talked me out of some more expensive options and beat a quote I got from a reputable PC seller by more than $1,000. The only program I can not run do date on this vista System is Jasc paint shop pro which, by the way claims to be Vista compatible. Gmax runs just fine despite what others may claim.
The facts.................
Intel E6850 duo core
N vidia 8800 gts video
2 gig ram
500 gig hd
some bonus games
boxed and packaged perfectly with free freight
Vista home premium supplied and installed

What I added (free bees) all free programs
Office org all office docs
paint.net perfect paint and photo program net search
thunderbird emails with excellent filters (mozilla)
fire fox web browser better than IE (mozilla)
visage pdf reader net search
I have asked for and received permission to mention the seller and I can not recommend him more highly
look at ebay computers search for jezpol (Jerry) 0423 203904 or aust_wide@internode.on.net
my total cost $1679 plus vista (under) $150

Disclaimer
I have no commercial, financial, family or any other interest with jezpol, other than purchasing One (1) pc

Cheers all Marty

What I want to spend - $2500 Au
What I have - FSX, CH yoke/pedals/throttle things
What I need - a computer! (actually have a Mac, never a PC),just for FSX!
What I wanted - Q 6600, 2 GB, 8800 GTX, DX10 soundcard, 800W power(?)
20" screen 5ms refresh
Struggling on price. Should I go back to E6700 or keep quad core and go down to 8800GTS or do I need another seller?

I can do Intel Q6600 for less than $400

Good RAM for low $300's 2x1gig

22" monitor "Benq" for $350ish

NVidia 8800 GTX cheapest I could find was $699

Sound cards are not really needed now days unless you really really want one for music creation or editing. but the best I could find was $139 I-Fi

Power, I would recommend a case I have myself that comes with 1200 watt power supply included with the best case money can buy right now. The Antec I 190 worth $550 something

Regards,

Gavin Gillett
