Hi all,
First time poster here so a bit about me...
I will be learning to fly in about a year or so once I have saved enough money to start a PPL.
In the meantime I will be giving the sims a good run.
I think I will be going for Microsoft X Deluxe, as it seems to be very popular with a good range of things to try out. Though I'm not sure of any other good sims, and I'd like a realistic sim as possible. Any others worth trying?
Now to my original question. I am stearing toward buying a yoke and pedal set-up as it will be what I need to get used to in preperation for a PPL. But will this limit my sim playing if I have this arrangement?

Hello and Welcome
Go the stick mate.
In my opinion it works better across all aircraft. A yoke is great, don’t get me wrong but at least have a stick in there someplace as well. You can read more about it here http://www.ausflightsim.net/article41.html
The stick can be better used to simulate Airbus operations and Helicopter flight.
Oh and as for the real thing I can tell you from experience that the yoke is still years away from accurately recreating the feel.
Also if you want to go down the yoke road to get the best real world feel you will want something like this.
That way you can practice flying with the left hand while adjusting power, pitch and mixture. Oh and don’t forget to get the pedals because they made a huge improvement on the realism for me when I added them to my setup.
I use my home PC almost exclusively to practice for my CPL (H)
Also there is a huge list of software that can improve the realism even further but the Deluxe is a must have platform.
I would like the flexiblity of a stick. I couldn't imagine trying the aeriobatic/fighter stuff with a yoke. And yeah helicopters will be fun trying too. Will go the stick.
Cheers Gavin.
Prolly have some more questions for you before too long.
