When I add srtm and voz 1.5 to the add on scenery in FS9, I can get them all in the correct order as descrbed in the VOZ scenery activation instructions
FS9 then requests me to restart the program to activate the new scenery
When I do I find that all of the items I have added have disappeared and I am back where I started!

Any suggestions

Hello Mauries,

The problem you have described can be the result of two things. First is that if your running an operating system such as Vista the account control can stop the FS9.cfg file from being overwritten as well as many other files required making such a change.

The second is that sometimes it does not matter what is in the scenery file as long as the scenery has been installed into the correct location in the FS9. Have you started a flight to ascertain weather the software was installed correctly? e.g., go to a custom designed feature airport to see if it’s there and displaying properly. Double check for me that you have activated the VOZ scenery through the VOZ start-up panel and perhaps try again to get those scenery files in the list and in the correct order. Did they perhaps slip to the bottom of the list somehow for instance?

Computers make uncommanded decisions on a daily basis and quite often they get it wrong. Let me know how you go with these things and perhaps provide us with some basic system information, such as CPU type and speed.

All these things will help diagnose your problem. Oh one last thing to check and i know it seems simple but its best to get the basics out of the way first. Did you install FS9 on a second hard driver perhaps? If you did then double check that VOZ was installed onto that same hard drive. I know its pointing out the obvious and I’m very sorry but it doesn’t hurt to check.

Kind Regards,

Gavin Gillett

Thanks for that. Yes, I do have Vista and that might be part of the problem.
No, both voz and fs9 are on the same drive.

What I do not have is the VOZ switcher that is supposed to appear on the desktop after installation. I have a VOZ user guide but that is all!

Apprciate your help
Regards

Mauries

Hi Mauries,

My reply will assist in one thing only, but I trust it will help if only slightly.

I have VOZ V1.6 and after initial install, I did not have the VOZ installer on my desktop either. However if you go:
right click Start -> Explore -> Program Files -> Microsoft Games -> FS9 -> VOZ -> right click on the VOZ Switcher then Create Shortcut

then you ought get the VOZ Switcher on your desktop.

I should add that I have Windows XP and this is what one dose. My wife and I were minding my brother-in-laws place recently and he has Vista and he rang to ask me to check an e-mail for him. I am a computer moderate but he had to talk me through each step, much to my embarrasment...

Vista is weird... Couldn't find the Start icon initially...

Hope this (about the VOZ Switcher) helps a bit.

Nick

Thanks Nick
Followed your advice and created a shortcut for Voz switcher.exe and can open that on my desktop.
However none of the 'buttons' work, clicking on any of them does nothing!
