I need user accounts turned off because FSDS and Gmax call X to mod to create aircraft models. It also calls note pad in the process to report any errors that may occur. With user accounts turned on the changes to the files that need to be modified are not saved.

Hi Marty

Viper is correct and you may find the following links useful. In my opinion the UAC can safely be turned off under most conditions you find in the average home user environment were those who have access to your PC are trusted responsible people.

Thanks again Gavin and Viper. I am trying a few things, like giving programs permanent administrator rights to see how that works.
In the initial stages of drawing an aeroplane it is not an issue to reboot to run x to mod as it happens infrequently. In the debugging stage when fixing minor errors it is necessary to have user accounts turned off for long periods to save rebooting every few minutes.
Things can look fine in the drawing program that don't look so good in FSX so it is necessary to use x to mod after all debug modifications to check them in FSX.

I think the problem occurs because the drawing program runs x to mod, then that program saves and closes the ***.mdl file, with out asking to save changes. Of course with UaC turned on Vista refuses the save. With UaC turned off Vista allows the save and changes can be seen in FSX.

Thanks again for the help .......Marty
