Hello.

I requested Adrian open this Rotor Head forum just for me.

We have a large group of Australian Helicopter enthusiast’s that frequent this forum and I intend to put them to good use.

I want to use this forum to promote everything to do with Helicopters both in the real world and simulated.

I want to have a known group of people to which I can organise Helicopter events such as movie making, formation flying, competitions and development of Australian Heli ports and software. A place you know you will find like minded people.

Ideas on the table so far but not limiting are below. Don’t be afraid to add your own ideas because in the end it’s the autopilots that are really afraid.

Helicopter Movies featuring formation flying, fire fighting, long lining and aerobatics. With FSX around the corner we can expect a better platform and improved opportunities to grow this area of simulated Aviation

Competitions in Aerobatics or Operational Proficiency and Autorotation

Software development and ideas to which we already have a strong knowledge base and a wealth of experience. That in its self will encourage others to try there hand.

Most of all, its a place we can talk about the more complicated side of aviation without fixed wing types offering suggestions like "Just use the auto pilot" and "what are you collecteving with your helichopper?"

Now that I have offended all the autopilot types I will even offer an olive branch, such is the nature of this Helo pilot. I will offer to teach people what I know about helicopter operations and just maybe tempt a few autopilots across to the last bastion of real aviation that is “Flying the dam thing by hand”

Regards

Gavin Gillett

Hi Gavin,

As a primarily fixed wing sim pilot I have to say I find your introduction to the Rotor Heads forum to be highly offensive. Laughing I don't think I've touched an autopilot in months!

Anyhow, I am slowly allowing the experiences of being a helo pilot to filter into my system so I will watch this forum with interest.

LOL,
An AusFlightSim home for rotorheads!
Eryago-mate!
I am now in Chiang Mai Thailand and will probably need a Helicopter sim refresher course when I get back.

I was in the Karen hilltribe village of Huay Malai in the district of Sangkhlaburi visiting a Burmese family whose orphanage I help support and I had to laugh when another visitor there turned out to be a woman from Perth W.A.
It's a small world even when you are out in the middle of the jungle.

Great Idea on the Rotorhead forum Gavin!

Cheers Rob!
ChopperWorld Coming soon!

Best Regards / Gary
