Well hello people, my name is Myk and I am from UK. I am a member of an on-line flying group called Bristolflightsimgroup based here in the UK. I am in terms of on-line flyer's, am a relative newbie, as I have only been flying since end of Febuarary/March of this year. I am mainly into VFR GA flying and I fly with a CH Yoke and Saitek pedals and two monitors. I am just really getting into the flight planning area for the group on the night's we fly on-line. And we already have ventured down this way, with a flight around Tasmania and are currently going to fly around NZ this week. I am in the middle of downloading OZx_AUS_V2, in the hope of better than default scenery for Australia. And am hoping to do some nice VFR flying down here in OZ. After all what is VFR flying if there is no eye candy to see. Any way ta for now, speak soonest.

G'day Mykv
I hope you enjoy the view, there are many add-ons available that improve the AUS/NZ scenery. Check out some of the ORBX products while your at it, you wont be disappointed and the OZx_AUS_V2 was designed to fit perfectly over the top of ORBX products hand in hand.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your flying downunder. I hope you drop by and say hello often. Perhaps even share a story or two of your adventures.

Many thanks Gavin for your warm introduction, firstly I will apologise for having taken so long to reply to you, but I have suffered the most dreaded of all the things that can happen to us bunch of simmers. And that was the Blue/Black screen of death, caused by two separate programs trying to perform an update simultaneously thereby causing the computer to go into restart mode faster than you could blink and continually going in and out of safe mode quicker than you can follow on the screen, which of course led to the ultimate kicker of FORMAT C . This of course meant having to re-install everything from scratch again, you know all of those lovely programs and settings and tweaks and, and, and, the list goes on. And now nearly three weeks after the event, I am still finding those little quirks and niggles, we did not have before the event.
Still enough of my troubles, Yes I am aware of all of the lovely scenery that is available from various sources for Aus and NZ and Oceania and have already got various bits including the 375+ airfields and others, the FTX tasmania demo for one. I seem to be able to get some good scenery for your part of the world easier than for my end, UK. As a flight planner for the GA flyers from our club, Bristolflightsimgroup.org,we have already done two flights down in your neck of the woods. One around the North of Tasmania ending on a beach in the middle of nowhere for a barbacue, and another from Canberra to Cooma Snowy mountains to end at Mt Beauty. All flown VFR in decent weather to be able to see the very good default scenery and to generally enjoy flying down this way. Of course other flights are in the pipeline for down this way again. But we are currently in the beginning of our flight around the world by going Eastwards, we are generally flying every thursday night as a complete group of between five and ten GA'ers, whilst the 'heavies' are flying their usual thursday's night flight from one place to another having preplanned their routes for the next twelve months. Where as we GA'ers tend to leave the plan of the weeks flight to members to come up with, ie, just flown round the Islands of Shetlands and Orkneys or a part of the route for the round to world leg. It is left to the individual member to come up with a new flight plan each week for all to fly. This way it does not become boring or left to one person to plan everything, which increases the sense of camaraderie between the GA flyers and of course everybody is welcome to come fly with us in what ever is comfortable for them to fly in, and for the fact that two or three of us are on virtually every night of the week, any one is welcome to join in with us in any way they feel good in. Though we mainly fly in FSX, some fly in FS9, everyone is made to feel welcome and to be able to fly at whatever their ability level is, if any one needs help with what ever, there is generally someone how is willing to give whatever help they can. We usually work to the 'motto' we leave no-one behind, no matter what the problem or predicament is. Be it trouble with flightsim, teamspeak, fsinn, computers or programs, downloads, we usually can find a solution for whoever.
Sorry if this seem like an attempt to recruit more members, it is just I have got so involved within the group for only having flown in flightsim for just over nine months and also written my first E-mail at the same time period, and spoken to my first contact from the web in the same period, even though I was using the web for a couple of years before that.
Now as we all know the world is only just around the corner with the web and internet, there really is no distance involved in talking to people on the web and flightsim, be they in UK or Aus or USA or anywhere else.
I hope to be able to come and have a natter about once a month or more if thatis OK with everyone, anyway I have ranted too much now so I will say Cheers for now Myk
